High-performance x86 Network Security Appliance based on Dual Intel Xeon E5-2600 v3 CPUs
The FW-8896 is the successor to Lanner's DPDK-ready flagship network computing platform and is powered by two Intel® Xeon® processor E5-2600 v3/v4 (codenamed Haswell/Broadwell-EP) and the Intel® C612 series chipset (codenamed Wellsburg), featuring 22nm process, DDR4 support and enhanced SATA support. The new generation of Intel® Xeon® E5-2600 v3 processors greatly improve hardware performance, bandwidth, CPU and power efficiency, making appliances such as the FW-8896 ideal solutions for tasks that require optimized instructions for communications workloads and enhanced packet processing capabilities, such as high-performance network security, enterprise firewall, UTM, IPS, application delivery controller and WAN optimization. The FW-8896 is equipped with 8 NIC modules, capable of supporting up to 64 GbE ports; also notable is that a maximum of sixteen quad-channel 2133 MHz DDR4 can be accommodated, providing up to 512GB of memory capacity.
